English singer and songwriter Lily Allen turned down a gig that would have paid 200,000 bitcoin in 2009, worth more than $4.7 billion at today’s rate.
According to a report by NME in December 2017, Lily Allen once turned down the opportunity to play a gig and be paid in hundreds of thousands of BTC. Allen revealed the missed gig in a tweet published in 2014, when the price of bitcoin was still under $1000.
“As if,” Allen said when asked to perform a live concert for the little-known cryptocurrency.
She blamed herself at the time for refusing the gig and hundreds of thousands of BTC–worth millions when the tweet was published.
While Allen may have regretted turning down the gig in 2014, she is probably sorely regretting it today.
Following bitcoin’s latest rise to an all-time high, the payment would be worth more than $4.7 billion, making her one of the most financially successful entertainers of all time.
