Paris Hilton is jumping into the metaverse craze with the launch of “Parisland,” a digital experience focused on dating and users finding love in Ethereum-powered virtual world “The Sandbox” ($SAND).
Here is how Binance Research described The Sandbox back in August 2020:
“The Sandbox is a virtual world built on the Ethereum blockchain, where players can build, own, and monetize their gaming experiences… The SAND token is an ERC-20 utility token that is used for value transfers as well as staking and governance… Players can create digital assets in the form of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), upload them to the marketplace, and integrate into games with Game Maker.“
On 9 February 2023, Animoca Brands (the parent company of The Sandbox) and next-gen entertainment company 11:11 Media announced via a press release that they will celebrate Valentine’s Day in the metaverse with ‘Parisland,’ which is “a romantic adventure set on a tropical island featuring Paris Hilton.” Apparently, in the new experience, players will “participate in an in-game dating reality show hosted by Paris Hilton, where they will interact with five potential romantic partners.”
The press release went on to add:
“From 13 February to 13 March, 2023, players will be able to enter Parisland, the world’s most romantic island, and earn special rewards as they participate in Paris Hilton’s reality show. Between choosing a wedding ring and wedding outfit, finding the secret of the chef’s famed Love Burger, rescuing a castaway, and flirting with other contestants, players will also make the most difficult decision of all: finding their true love. When players complete all the quests and make their choice, they will be able to enjoy a fabulous wedding and dance the night away with Paris Hilton herself DJing for the happy couple.“
Sebastien Borget, COO and Co-Founder of The Sandbox, had this to say:
”I can’t think of a better way to light up the winter months than a romantic Valentine’s Day getaway to Paris Hilton’s tropical island in the metaverse. Parisland offers a dazzling escape to sunny beaches, lighthearted romance, and genuine emotion as you discover and woo your romantic partner and celebrate with a destination wedding.“
And Cynthia Miller, who leads Web3 and metaverse strategy at 11:11 Media, stated:
“We’re thrilled to celebrate another holiday in the metaverse, this time in The Sandbox with a mission to help people find love. This marks yet another defining moment for Paris and 11:11 Media, as we continue to develop innovative, interactive experiences for next-gen audiences to connect with brands, celebrities and each other.”
