Bitmain is adding liquid cooling technology to its latest Bitcoin mining rig, the Antminer S19 Pro+ Hyd.

According to a report by CoinDesk, Bitmain, one of the world’s largest Bitcoin mining rig manufacturers, has added liquid cooling technology for the first time in its latest product release.

The Antminer S19 Pro+ Hyd., will have a reported hashrate of 198 TH/s and a power efficiency of 27.5 joules per terahash (J/TH), while consuming 5445 watts of power. This comes in comparison to the previous, top-of-the-line iteration of Antminer, which had a hashrate of only 140 TH/s, and a power efficiency of 21.5 J/TH.

The new model will incorporate Bitmain’s “latest liquid cooling technology,” marking the first time the mining rig company has implemented the technology into a product. According to the report, liquid cooling adoption has been on the rise in recent years as a tradeoff to traditional air-cooling.

The mining machines are immersed in a synthetic hydrocarbon compound liquid which is fully biodegradable and conducts no electricity. Liquid cooling allows for a reduction in heat production, power consumption and noise, while also prolonging the lifespan of the mining rig.

While Bitmain has yet to provide a price point for the new liquid-cooled rig, it is expected to ship between May and September of this year.
