EOSIO software developer Block.one is preparing to launch its new social media platform “Voice” next month.
According to a series of tweets by Voice CEO Salah Zalatimo, the crypto-powered social media platform is looking at a July 4 launch. Zalatimo claims the underlying blockchain technology was built to scale over the past year, with an original reveal planned for Fall 2020.
However, Zalatimo says recent global events have increased the need for a decentralized social media platform and for the public to “take social back from big tech NOW.” He encouraged users to show their support for Voice as a platform that “doesn’t play politics, empowers communities, and respects your data.”
We pivoted, and decided to open up our platform for readers on July 4. Only registered user will be able publish or engage. Registration will remain by request until August 15, when users can begin to invite heir friends.

Block.one, the company behind the development of EOSIO, has invested $150 million into Voice, spending a reported $30 million on the domain name alone. The social media platform was originally designed to operate on EOS’s public blockchain before being changed to a custom-made EOSIO blockchain.
The beta version, which launched in February, allows users access to a social media platform that emphasizes human interaction while attempting to reduce spam and fake accounts. Voice also uses a native utility token to reward users for creating content.
