Samsung Electronics has announced the release of a new, crypto-friendly edition of its Galaxy Note 10 smartphone which will feature messaging giant Kakao’s blockchain network.
Crypto-Friendly Galaxy Note 10
According to the most recent update, the new version of the smartphone will come with a pre-installed cryptocurrency wallet in an effort to increase blockchain and crypto adoption.
The Wall Street Journal first reported the development on Sept. 5, and says that the phone will be a variation of the Galaxy Note 10 but is being marketed as ‘KlatynPhone,’ in homage to the the blockchain network developed by messaging provider Kakao.
The phone is only intended to be sold in South Korea and will not include any updated hardware specifications outside of pre-installed blockchain apps and the aforementioned crypto wallet. Regular Note 10 and non-Samsung users can download the Klaytn blockchain apps through Google’s Android system, but the report claims that the special phone edition will support full-scale transactions.
Samsung is working closely with the messaging giant Kakao’s Ground X team to launch the new phone, which is a division devoted to the development of blockchain networks. The South Korea-based electronics company has been at the forefront of boosting cryptocurrency adoption, with the release of the Galaxy S10 earlier in the year featuring digital wallet support.
