A Canadian healthcare service firm called Ask The Doctor has added nearly $1.5 million worth of Shiba Inu ($SHIB) to its balance sheet via the popular cryptocurrency exchange Kraken. Kraken itself notably listed the meme-inspired cryptocurrency in late November.

According to a tweet the Toronto-based firm published on social media, it has used Kraken to buy SHIB and is set to start accepting SHIB payments with local healthcare partners in the near future.

In a follow-up tweet, Ask The Doctor clarified it will be adding Shiba Inu payments due to “the high number of requests” from the so-called SHIBArmy, a term used to refer to supporters of the meme-inspired cryptocurrency, for “utility with our healthcare partners.”

The decision to add SHIB to its balance sheet came as the company was deciding between adding it or rival meme-inspired cryptoasset Dogecoin ($DOGE). It asked its followers via Twitter to clarify which one it should add to its balance sheet. Nearly 90% of the 10,156 respondents voted for SHIB over DOGE.

Ask The Doctor, via its partner firms, offers a range of healthcare services including telemedicine consults, COVID-19 tests, travel medical insurance, dental procedures, cosmetic procedures, and more.

The firm has been accepting BTC and other cryptocurrencies as a payment method since 2016, a move that its co-founder and CEO Prakash Chand defended as it provided more privacy for patients and maximized accessibility to its services.

As CryptoGlobe reported, Ask The Doctor announced in late November it was accepting DOGE payments and as soon moving to add Shiba Inu and Floki Inu payments as well.
