Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao is launching a non-fungible token (NFT) collection on Ethernity, an authenticated NFT project, in collaboration with Rikognition as the NFT market keeps booming.
According to a press release shared with CryptoGlobe, the famous boxer turned politican and philanthropist will have at the centerpiece of his collection a “highly realistic portrait” named after his popular nickname “PacMan,” which will be a one-of-one limited edition digital art piece.
Rikognition described the piece saying it aims to “transmit the essence of Pacquiao as a person who overcame incredible odds but never lost his spirit and heart,” and added:
- The piece is inspired by Pacquiao’s career, in which a moment in time can feel both fleeting yet lasting an eternity.
Pacquiao is well-known for being one of the greatest boxers ever, winning gold medals in several weight categories. He also donates to charitable causes rather frequently and served in the Philippine senate since 2016.
The winner of the NFT auction will be awarded two tickets to Pacquiao’s fight with Yordenis Ugas in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Ethernity team is set to “ensure the immediate digital delivery of the tickets to the winner.“
The boxing legend’s NFT collection will also include trading cards representing him. Pacquiao has notably been involved in the cryptocurrency space in the past, as in 2019 he launched a merchandise-backed cryptocurrency.
The NFT auction comes as the market keeps on booming. Earlier this month, leading NFT marketplace OpenSea overtook leading decentralized exchange Uniswap on Ethereum usage after spending over $1.9 million in gas on transaction fees.
