On Thursday (April 15), the day of Ethereum’s “Berlin” upgrade, on crypto exchange Bitstamp, the Ether (ETH) price hit $2,478 — setting a new all-time high — at 03:58 UTC.
According to data by Etherscan, at the time of writing (around 04:45 UTC on April 15), we are approximately five hours from Ethereum’s Berlin upgrade going live on the mainnet.
The Berlin upgrade introduces the following enhancements to Ethereum:
- EIP-2565: ModExp Gas Cost
- EIP-2929: Gas cost increases for state access opcodes
- EIP-2718: Typed Transaction Envelope
- EIP-2930: Optional access lists
