On Thursday (August 27), famous gold bug Peter Schiff, who is one of Bitcoins harshest critics, asked the crypto community to send his son Spencer (who turned 18 on August 26) some BTC as a “belated birthday present.”
Schiff is the CEO of Euro Pacific Capital, a full-service, registered broker/dealer specializing in foreign markets and securities, and founder and Chairman of SchiffGold, a full-service, discount precious metals dealer. He is also a man who is extremely bullish on gold, bearish on the U.S. dollar, and highly skeptical about Bitcoin.
In his Twitter bio, Spencer Schiff (@SchiffSpencer) says his interests include “include finance, data-analytics, Austrian economics, and libertarianism.”
From Spencer’s tweets, it is clear that he does not agree with his father’s claim that Bitcoin is worthless. Here is one example:
On Wednesday (August 26), Peter revealed that his son had just turned 18:
Greg Foss, one of Peter’s Twitter followers then offered to send Spencer some BTC as a gift thinking that this would be Spencer’s first exposure to Bitcoin; however, Spencer replied that he already owned $450 worth of BTC:
Spencer then went on to say that he had bought this amount of Bitcoin around two weeks ago:
Spencer then went to acknowledge that Bitcoin is only a small portion of his investment portfolio, but he plans to buy more BTC soon:
Then, yesterday (August 27), Peter asked those members of the crypto community who were mocking him because his son was buying Bitcoin to “really rub it in” by “gifting him some as a belated birthday present”:
We also know Spencer’s ETH wallet address:
Currently (as of 07:05 on August 28), Spencer’s BTC wallet has 0.08499849 BTC, which is worth around $971.36.
