On Tuesday (March 17), cryptoasset exchange Coinbase allowed that people with Android-powered phones can now add the Coinbase debit card to their Google Pay wallets.
On 11 April 2019, Coinbase announced “Coinbase Card”, a new Visa debit card for its UK and European Union (EU) customers that allows them to easily spend any of the crypto balances in their Coinbase account to pay for goods/services anywhere that Visa is accepted or for making cash withdrawals from ATMs. Via the Coinbase Card app, users can select which cryptocurrency to pay with.
Coinbase’s blog post says that via this integration of Coinbase Card and Google Pay, Coinbase “becomes the first company to enable users to make mobile payments powered by their crypto balances.”
This feature is currently available to customers in the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Belgium, Finland, France, Italy, Slovakia, Spain, Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden; and Coinbase is promising to provide support for other European countries later in the year.
