The founder of TRON, Justin Sun, has had dinner with the CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Warren Buffet, six months after placing his record-breaking $4.5 million bid.
The 29-year-old entrepreneur initially got a chance to have lunch with the ‘Oracle of Omaha’ by winning an auction conducted by Buffett, so the proceeds can go to charity. Sun placed a record-breaking $4.5 million bid at the Glide Foundation last year to win, but postponed lunch over health issues.
Sun ended up later on apologizing for “over-marketing” the event, which turned into dinner at a private country club in Warren Buffet’s home town of Omaha, on January 23. The meal featured steaks and Coca-Cola, and according to a TRON spokesperson saw Buffett share his wisdom in “business, investment and life in general.”
The spokesperson, Ryan Dennis, added:
And of course there were a lot of conversations around blockchain and crypto. Crypto and blockchain are still at their infant stage, and Mr. Buffett said blockchain has its value. There are a lot of incredible companies in the payment realm, and it has huge demands. He believes blockchain technology will have a disruptive effect on the future of payment.
Warren Buffett’s assistant Debbie Bosanek, according to Bloomberg, added that at dinner there was an “interesting and enjoyable discussion.” Sun was joined by litecoin founder Charlie Lee, crypto exchange Huobi’s chief financial officer Chris Lee, chief executive officer of eToro Yoni Assia, and the head of the Binance Charity Foundation Helen Hai.
Among other gifts, Sun reportedly gave Buffett a Samsung phone with one BTC in its wallet, and a TRX coins corresponding with the 89-year-old’s birthday. Dennis added that after the meal, Sun started considering donating most of his fortune to charity by joining the Giving Pledge with Warren Buffet and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.
Dennis said:
Justin’s approach to entrepreneurship, his outlook on investments and business, in general, have evolved since dining with Mr. Buffett. There were many learning opportunities and more details are yet to come.
On social media, Justin Sun essentially confirmed the dinner occurred and thanks Warren Buffet for it, noting he’ll “always remember your sage advice on making TRON more successful.”
