Coinbase announced on Thursday (November 14) that “Coinbase Card”, its crypto debit card, now supported 10 additional countries and five more cryptoassets.
The Coinbase Card was introduced on April 11, and at that time, it was only supported in the UK. The idea was to allow Coinbase’s customers to easily spend any of the crypto balances in their Coinbase account to pay for goods/services anywhere that Visa is accepted or for making cash withdrawals from ATMs.
Then, two months later, Coinbase announced that the Coinbase Card had been made available in six other European countries: Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Ireland, and the Netherlands.
Earlier today, Joseph-Daniel Millwood, Head of Marketing (Europe) at Coinbase, explained via a blog post that Coinbase customers in Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Hungary, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Poland, Romania, and Sweden could now “spend their crypto balance using a contactless Visa debit card in millions of locations worldwide.”
He also mentioned that Coinbase had increased the number of cryptoassets that were available for spending from four to nine by adding support for XRP, Basic Attention Token (BAT), Augur (REP), 0x (ZRX), and Stellar (XLM). So, the full list of cryptoassets is now: BTC, ETH, BCH, LTC, XRP, BAT, REP, ZRX, and XLM.
Finally, he said that Coinbase had introduced a new monthly statement feature.
