UK-based cryptocurrency trading platform and social network eToro has announced it is adding support for Tezos, the 16th-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.
Tezos was developed by husband and wife team Arthur and Kathleen Breitman and launched in September 2018 following a $232 million initial coin offering (ICO) – a record-breaking sum for an ICO at that time.
It has become the 15th cryptoasset to join the eToro platform along with bitcoin, ether, XRP, litecoin, bitcoin cash, ethereum classic, dash, stellar, NEO, EOS, cardano, IOTA, zcash and TRON.
Broader Range of Assets
Yoni Assia, co-founder and chief executive of eToro, said in a press release that the move was aimed at advancing its mission to allow investors greater access to a wider range of digital assets. He added:
As we see financial institutions move more into the world of crypto, it is important that ordinary investors can take advantage of these technological developments, which is why we're excited to be adding coins like Tezos to eToro.
While crypto prices were broadly lower on Tuesday, the price of Ttzos fell sharply – down 6.2% to $1.3686 according to data on the eToro exchange.
Coinbase Pro
This was after a strong gain since the begining of August following the announcement by Coinbase, the US-based crypto-trading platform, that it was bringing tezos to its institutional trading platform Coinbase Pro.
Coinbase said on its blog on Monday that it had begun accepting inbound transfers of tezos for 12 hours prior to enabling full trading on Tuesday. It stressed, however, that the asset was not yet available on Coinbase.com or via its consumer mobile apps.
