Pundi X has announced a partnership with Samsung, despite the two companies comprising rival manufacturers of blockchain smartphones.
The partnership will see integration between the two companies’ wallet products, with Pundi X integrating with Samsung’s Blockchain Wallet, while Pundi’s XWallet is also made available to the users of Galaxy S10 via the phone’s blockchain app options.
Pundi X and Samsung Partner on Wallet Tech
In a blog post, Pundi X describes the partnership as a “unique opportunity” in which Samsung’s “millions” of smartphone users will be directly exposed to distributed ledger technology and cryptoassets:
The XWallet’s integration with the Samsung Blockchain Wallet thus makes Pundi X payment ecosystem available to a much wider audience, allowing the Samsung Galaxy smartphone users to not only store their ETH securely but also transfer to XWallet and spend it in a variety of shops, opening their doors to the new generation and their preferred cryptocurrencies.
Pundi also predicts that the partnership will allow it to expand its customer base in Korea, the United States, and Canada.
Cryptoassets can be Easily Moved Between Both Wallets
The integrations will allow users of Samsung’s Blockchain Wallet and Pundi’s XWallet to move cryptoassets between the two apps, with Pundi X stating that “users can move cryptocurrencies stored in the Samsung Blockchain Wallet into the XWallet, which they can then use as a checking account for instant crypto transaction with Pundi X’s global payment ecosystem.” XWallet users who also own a Samsung Galaxy S10 will “be able to choose to store their digital assets securely in Samsung Blockchain Wallet, like a saving account.”
Pundi’s XWallet currently supports Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Binance Coin (BNB), KuCoin Shares (KCS), NEM (XEM), KNC, Qtum (QTUM), in addition to Pundi X’s native tokens NPXS and NPXSXEM.
On July 12, Pundi X announced that support for its cryptocurrency payments system had been integrated into a device produced by U.S. point-of-sale (POS) systems producer, Verifone. The integration saw support for Pundi X integrated onto Verifone’s Android’s X990 POS terminal.
During 2018, Pundi X claimed to have executed “the world’s first blockchain phone call” without the use of a centralized mobile carrier.
