TRON Foundation has announced that its founder and CEO, Justin Sun, has been forced to postpone his $4.57 million charity lunch with billionaire investor Warren Buffett, the world’s third richest person.
On June 3, Sun sent out a tweet to announce that he had won “the record-setting 20th anniversary charity lunch” hosted by Buffett.
Acccording to Bloomberg, this annual auction “raises money for San Francisco-based charity Glide, which Buffett’s late wife Susan supported” and that Glide Foundation “provides meals for the city’s homeless, offers support to domestic violence victims, and helps people find shelter.”
Back in June, in his open letter to the TRON community, Sun said that:
- He was a long-term fan of Warren Buffett and his “long-term value investing strategy.”
- He saw this upcoming lunch meeting (a victory “for the entire blockchain community”) as a chance to “seek mutual understanding and growth.”
- To help the blockchain/crypto community, he would invite seven “industry leaders” to come to this lunch with him.
This lunch meeting was supposed to take place on July 25 at chef Michael Tusk’s three-Michelin-stars-rated San Francisco restaurant Quince. The first four guests to be named were Litecoin creator Charlie Lee, Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire, Binance Charity Head Helen Hai, and eToro CEO Yoni Assia.
Then, at 21:28 (UTC) on July 22, TRON Foundation sent out the following tweet to explain that Sun’s meeting with Buffett had had to be postponed due to medical reasons, namely Sun’s kidney stones, and that the two parties had agreed to reschedule this meeting:

Over on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, Sun went into more detail about his illness and apologized to his followers for having had to postpone the lunch with Buffett. The screenshot below is a translation to English of his post:
Sadly, for TRX holders, these kidney stones may be hurting more than just Justin Sun at the moment, with the TRX price taking a dive just after the announcement was made. According to CryptoCompare, TRX is currently trading at $0.02654, down 8.98% in the past 24-hour period:
